A diary, in general, is used for writing about each day's events in chronological order. What a great tool to use in writing memoirs or in generating ideas for fiction. Journals are defined as being used to write feelings and thoughts about events, changes in circumstances, and working through what life has dealt. (Also great for putting together memoirs and fiction!) The physical feel, weight and even the smell of the book can take us back to the day it was written.
